Research Interests

Prof. Uju’s research interests focus on marine bioproduct development and sustainable biorefinery systems, particularly involving seaweed and marine biomass. His work explores green extraction and conversion technologies such as ultrasonication, ionic liquids, and deep eutectic solvents for producing hydrocolloids, biopolymers, pigments, and bioethanol. He is also interested in zero-waste processing, biomaterial design, and valorization of seaweed residues into value-added products. His studies integrate bioprocess engineering, marine biotechnology, and circular bioeconomy principles to support the advancement of Indonesia’s blue economy and sustainable marine industries.
