Four lecturers from the Department of Aquatic Product Technology (THP), Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, IPB University, have been invited as speakers at the prestigious international event The 37th Annual Meeting and International Conference of the Thai Society for Biotechnology (TSB2025), which will be held on October 29–31, 2025, in Bangkok, Thailand.


Carrying the theme “Biotechnology in Action,” this conference serves as a platform for researchers, academics, and professionals in biotechnology to share the latest research findings and build cross-disciplinary collaborations toward sustainable innovation. This year’s event also features a Special Symposium on Marine Biotechnology and Bioprospecting, co-organized with IPB University, Indonesia.

In this symposium, the THP IPB University lecturers will take an active role as invited speakers, presenting their leading research topics in marine biotechnology and the utilization of aquatic biological resources, namely:

  • Dr. Kustiariyah Tarman, S.Pi., M.Si.
    Antibacterial activity and fatty acid content of mangrove-derived Thraustochytrids

  • Prof. Dr. Ir. Iriani Setyaningsih, M.S.
    Productivity and bioactivity of Spirulina cultivated in inclined plastic column photobioreactor

  • Dr. Rizfi Fariz Pari, S.T., M.Si., Ph.D.Eng.
    Amorphous cellulose nanofiber from green seaweed Ulva lactuca prepared with hydrophobic deep eutectic solvent and in silico characterization

  • Dr. Eng. Safrina Dyah Hardiningtyas, S.Pi., M.Si.
    Phycocyanin from Spirulina platensis: A green-derived bioactive for skin protection and nanocosmetic innovation

The participation of THP IPB University’s faculty members in TSB2025 reflects the Department’s active contribution to advancing innovative, sustainable, and globally impactful marine biotechnology research.

Through this participation, it is expected that collaboration between IPB University and various international research institutions will be further strengthened, expanding the application of biotechnology to support food security, health, and marine environmental sustainability.
