This summer course is organized by Department of Aquatic Product Technology, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, IPB University.

Course Description

In 2021, the Department of Aquatic Products Technology will hold a summer course program with the theme “Seafood sustainability and safety in Asia Pacific”.

This summer course activity is focused on aspects of quality and safety of fishery products. This activity will be carried out digitally and divided into 6 sessions for 2 weeks with the themes of

Learning Outcomes

After participating in the summer course program, participants have the ability to:

  1. Explain the characteristics of fish in tropical countries.
  2. Discuss the techniques used to determine the quality and safety of raw materials and fishery products
  3. Understanding the quality and safety of traditional fish processing products.
  4. Explain the use of fish by-products for added value products.

Credits: 2  (can be claimed as official courses IPB200)

  1. Seafood from Farm to Table
  2. Ensuring authenticity of our seafood
  3. Biotechnology to assure quality and safety seafood
  4. Traditional seafood processing
  5. Seafood processing by products

Benefit

Method

The course will be consisted of lecture in class and project. All activity will be delivered in English using interactive learning approach through group discussion and case study. The course will be conducted by selected experts who have expertise in this field from IPB and abroad, such as NTNU: Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Khon Kaen University, Thailand, Department of Food and Science Technology, Spanish National Research Council, and James Cook University, Australia.

The summer course program will be conducted (30 June – 14 July 2021), through online Zoom Meeting.
