This course will cover:

  1. Biology of seaweed
  2. Characteristics of seaweeds and their chemical diversity
  3. Metabolomics of tropical seaweeds
  4. Genetics diversity of tropical seaweed
  5. Microbial hydrolysis of seaweed using marine fungi to support seaweed industry
  6. Clean technology of semirefined carrageenan and refined carrageenan
  7. Seaweed based cosmeceutics
  8. Seaweed based functional foods


Practical Works and Field Observation Consist of these Activities:

  1. Seaweed culture observation (Ocean Fresh farmers)
  2. Preparing seaweed sauna as raw material for Semi refined or refined carragenan
  3. Processing Semi refined carragenan
  4. Processing seaweed industry effluent into KCl fertiliser and its application into corn farming
  5. Seaweed hydrolysis for organic fertiliser
  6. Processing seaweed based functional foods
  7. Producing seaweed body care
  8. Culture orientation and eye catch marine potency of West Sumbawa
