THP Undergraduate Study Program

The Bachelor of Aquatic Products Technology Study Program under the auspices of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK IPB) provides the best high school graduates/equivalent opportunities to gain education and expertise in the field of Aquatic Products Technology at the undergraduate level. This program is designed to meet the need for skilled and professional personnel in the Fisheries Industry. With more than 50 years of experience, the Aquatic Products Technology Undergraduate Study Program has been recognized for its ability and quality in providing education at the undergraduate level in the Fisheries Industry.

The Aquatic Products Technology study program is designed to produce graduates who master the field of fisheries and marine science as the basis for developing knowledge in the fields of characterization and treatment, biotechnology and aquatic product processing technology.

Graduate Competencies (GC) consist of GC formulated by the IPB University and GC Aquatic Products Technology Study Program. The GC of the Aquatic Products Technology Study Program consists of the Faculty GC which is formulated for both the Undergraduate Study Program at FPIK and the specific GC for the Aquatic Products Technology Study Program.

The curriculum of the Aquatic Products Technology Bachelor Program is designed to be completed in eight semesters (four years).

Competence of graduates

Graduate Competencies (GC) consist of GC formulated by the IPB University and GC Aquatic Products Technology Study Program. The GC of the Aquatic Products Technology Study Program consists of the Faculty GC which is formulated for both the Undergraduate Study Program at FPIK and the specific GC for the Aquatic Products Technology Study Program.

GC IPB University

  1. Faithful and devoted to God Almighty, insightful state and nationality.
  2. Think logically and systematically, scientifically quantitatively and able to communicate both orally and in writing in national and international scope.
  3. Competent in the principles of production and processing of biomass for human purposes and needs.
  4. Competence in the basic principles of natural science, sociology and the environment.
  5. Have professionalism, morals and ethics, concern for society and values/values, concern for the environment and entrepreneurial spirit and leadership spirit.

GC Undergraduate Program in Aquatic Products Technology

  1. Being capable to design and control aquatic products processing by applying hurdle technology and other operating systems in order to produce value added products (food and non-food) that meet standard.
  2. Mastering in depth general and specific theoretical concepts of fisheries and marine sciences, aquatic products chemistry and biochemistry, aquatic products microbiology, marine biotechnology, process engineering, products development and standardization in order to conduct research and produce value added products (food and non-food) that meet standard.
  3. Being capable and skilful in collaboration, communication (oral and writing), analysis all information sources in problem solving/taking strategic decision, thoughtful, conclusive, have a good attitude and high integrity, respects to heterogeneity/pluralism, competence to lead and organize, have a spirit of entrepreneurship.

Program Objectives

The THP study program was formed with the following objectives:

    1. Produce graduates who master science and technology in the aquatic product industry, have competitive skills, have noble character, are responsible, creative, innovative, and have a culture of quality.
    2. Produce innovative and applicable technology for the field of raw material characterization, processing, product diversification and development as well as biotechnology from aquatic biological resources in order to support the industrialization of aquatic products.
    3. Apply appropriate technology in the field of aquatic products in order to improve the welfare of the Indonesian people.

Learning Outcomes

1. Have an understanding of the basic principles governing fisheries and marine science.

1.1 Have understanding of the basic principle in natural science, mathematics, statistics, agriculture science, economic and social

sciences (such as sociology, religion, and civics science)

1.2 Have an understanding of principle in fisheries and marine science and be able to apply the knowledge with regard to the

fisheries post harvest, processing and biotechnology, covering the knowledge about fish/ichthyology, oceanography, aquatic

ecology, basic captured fisheries, basic fisheries culture, basic aquatic products technology.

2. Being capable of physic-chemical properties of aquatic resources.

2.1 Being capable to identify problem and determined quality of aquatic product based on biological, physical, and chemical

properties

3. Mastering the knowledge of processing technology and capable of applying it to aquatic industrial production.

3.1 Able to recognize the technique and work safety in the field of the fisheries industry.

3.2 Able to apply various methods for collecting and analysis data on fisheries processing and biotechnology field

4. Mastering the principle of product development and capable to design and formulate aquatic products.

5. Mastering on biotechnology and bioprospecting of aquatic products for food and non-food development

6. Mastering the knowledge of standardization systems and capable of applying quality and safety management systems of

aquatic products

7. Being capable of self-improvement, religious, nationalist, moral responsible, self-confidence; working in a team, and responsible

for the team accomplishment; and communicating effectively both orally and written, have eagerness to keep up with

development of science and technology

7.1 Able to interpret data and draw conclusion to possible problem accordance with its plan

7.2 Able to search of relevant literature and data sources for scientific activities

7.3 Being capable and skilful in communicating verbally and in writing, able to think critically and utilize various resources of

information in problem solving
